COACHING BIOS
Jim Meyer - Mite AA and Squirt AA
Jim, certified by USA Hockey as a Master Level 5 coach (the highest level awarded by USA Hockey), brings several years of successful coaching and development experience at all ages and skill levels; as a coach with the Lake County Atoms, Falcons Hockey, Maulers Hockey and the Ramquoits High School program and as an Instructor with the Chicago Blackhawks Youth Dream Camps, Rink Side and Athletic Republic. Jim currently serves President and Hockey Director of Maulers Hockey, and has previously served as Hockey Director and VP of Hockey Operations for the Lake County Atoms, as well as Hockey Director and Varsity Head Coach for the Ramquoits High School program.
Dave Walsh – Pee Wee AA
Dave has coached at Rink Side for several years, at several age levels, contributing to the success of many of the players moving into the Lake County Atoms travel program. This past fall, Dave coached Pee Wee for Maulers Hockey and assisted with the Maulers Pee Wee Select team.
Ed Garver – Bantam AA
Ed Garver has over 10 years of coaching and teaching the game of hockey to all age levels, Minor Mite to Adult. Ed has coached with the Ice Dogs, Lake County Atoms , and Rink Side Sports at Mite to Bantam. He has also taught clinics at Rink Side, from Mite to Adult. Ed has a straight forward philosophy that each and every player receives the same opportunities to play and progress in the sport of hockey. Fair team play is taught from the beginning and reinforced throughout the season. Ed will not only coach your child, but he will build on your child’s skill set to prepare them for the next level of play.
Mike Kotlar-Program Goalie Coach
Mike brings several years of coaching experience at the AA and AAA level, including Petitt AAA, Team Wisconsin, the Chill and the Chicago Mission. He has been an instructor at goalie schools and clinics and has served as Goalie Coach and Hockey Director for the Lake County Atoms. This past season, Mike was an Assistant Varsity Coach and Goalie Coach for the Ramquoits High School program and worked with goalies for Maulers Hockey. As a part of his playing career, Mike served as a practice goalie for the New York Islanders.
