WHAT’S NEXT?

As the Fall / Winter season is coming to a close, you may be asking if there is any hockey coming up.  The answer, there are plenty of programs planned for fun and development.

·          Beginning in late March, Spring League offers the opportunity to play a short season, ending by Memorial Day weekend.

Mite through Bantam teams play eight games in the North Shore Spring League with one practice per week.

Midgets play in two tournaments with twelve Clinic Style practices.

We have successful, experienced coaches with a strong backgrounds in development at every age level this spring.

Spring hockey is focused on fun and testing the waters at your age level for next fall.

Prior to each Spring Season is the free Maulers Checking Clinic, which will satisfy the requirements of Maulers Hockey and NIHL.

·          Maulers Skills Clinics, Developmental Hockey and Maulers Cubs will run through the Spring and Summer Seasons (as well as Hockey 101 for our Adult Maulers).

·          The Summer Season brings something new with Cross Ice Pond Hockey.  Show up, throw your sticks in the pile, pull on your pullover and off you go.  This is the best way to develop your skills in stick handling, passing and hockey sense.  More touches in a tighter area means faster play, faster decisions and personal development as a player.

Not to mention it is FUN!

·          Along with our Cross Ice Pond Hockey comes our Annual Summer Meltdown 3 on 3 Tournament.  This popular event pits teams against each other in a formatted, fun and competitive environment.

·          Summer offers the opportunity for more Skills Classes such as Strictly Stickhandling and Pass and Shoot.

·          This fall we start with our Conditioning Clinics followed by our Fall / Winter Season programs.  We anticipate these programs will fall into two areas.

o       Travel-We anticipate at least one travel team at each level next year, mite through bantam.  There may also be a midget program, dependent on our companion high school programs (our goal is to drive Maulers Hockey players to their high school programs, if appropriate).  These teams will play in the Northern Illinois Hockey League (NIHL) and will be on the ice three to four times per week (depending on game schedules).

o       House-We anticipate at least two teams per age level, mite through bantam.  Our house teams play in the North Shore Youth Hockey League (NSYHL) and are generally on the ice twice per week.

o       Select Teams-We will evaluate the possibility of Select teams at each level, after travel tryouts and house evaluations, if appropriate.  The goal of our program is to provide the option of teams at travel and house.  For the 2010-2011 season, any Select teams that are warranted would be “Tournament Only” teams.

o       Skills-We will continue with the Cafeteria Skills program through Rink Side, including, but not limited to, such programs as Maulers Skills, Developmental Hockey, Maulers Cubs Power Skating, etc.
